Italy welcomed the first week of March the International Conference on Tools and Techniques for Simulation, SIMUTools. The second celebration of this event was centered on the aspects of modeling and analysis.
Researchers of the Andalusian Centre of Innovation and Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) attended this international event in order to present a workshop dedicated to the ns-3 tool. This workshop, organized in the framework of SIMUTools event, was celebrated at the second of March in Rome.

Ns-3 is a network simulator for Internet systems, focused primarily on the area of education and investigation. This open tool code is available for general use, although it is specially designed for researchers and developers. The use is oriented towards research priorities and networks, for example for the improvement of links between simulations, the surrounding of virtual machines and test beds.

The ns-3 workshop given at the SIMUTools, had the objective to collect suggestions for the improvement of this simulator to make progress possible and to adapt it to the necessities of the users. In this sense, CITIC proposed a complementary utility of the ns-3 to facilitate the general use. With the tool called ´ns-3 Script Generator´, the user will be able to generate a simulation scene without the necessity to possess in depth knowledge of the ns-3 use and its associated language.

The workshop was organized in two parts in which there was time to give a general view on the ns-3 fundamentals, with examples demonstrating the possibilities that are offered by this simulator to all the participants. And in the second part advanced characteristics were explained, as well as the demonstrations and development that are worked at in the present.
