The Digital Home is coming closer every day.

The Andalusian Centre of Innovation and Information and Communication Technologies has embarked upon the development of a device that permits the reception of the Digital Television signal through the Internet and at the same time supplies the necessary capacities to execute interactive services.

 

This initiative, financed by the Council of Innovation, Science and Companies of the Council of Andalusia, pretends to base the new television on an open system, in a unique standardized language, through which the user has access to more contents and with more control over these contents. In this development, the project will amplify the amount of interactive services to which the citizens have access at the present.

 

CITIC will put its two cents worth and add another step to the diffusion of digital television by demonstrating its accessibility and converting the user in an active participant in the process through the option for interactivity. It will permit the user to access channels for such services as education, tele assistance, shopping, reservations, consulting, entertainment, downloading and content programming, through an easy and accessible intuitive manner. This will constitute another important step towards the Digital Home.

 

In a complementary manner, CITIC will study the integration of the system into other advanced technologies such as High Definition Digital Television o Television in Mobility.

 

Since 2002 CITIC has oriented its activities to the development and strengthening of the processes of innovation and technological development at a regional, national and international level, through the execution of relevant projects in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
